MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

The shrine circus is in town and will be entertaining young and old alike thru Sunday. But, if you think running away to work in the circus is an easy ride think again. If you work in the circus world, you work a lot.

The lights, the sights, the sounds… it is an experience you remember for the rest of your life. But did you ever notice the guy selling cotton candy? He looks a lot like the guy driving the motor cycle in the aerial act. Or, the girl at the sound board looks very much like the girl in the sparkly outfit under the motor cycle guy. Well, if you did notice and just thought that circus people all look alike, you would be wrong.

It's called multi-tasking. We all do it in our jobs. You may open up in the morning, sell all day then sweep up and take out the trash before closing at night. It's the same thing in the circus. Everybody here has more than one job.

Devin Chandler says, "Everyone these days multi task, but the circus has always done that. Yes, for two reasons. It helps the artists make extra money, because you get paid by the act. It also helps the producer and sponsors save money because you get a package deal."

So the next time your boss gives you an extra task around the office don't complain. If you were in the circus they might just ask you, how you like riding motorcycles...on a cable...way up high!
