Lindenwold Police say a 52-year- old woman was attacked in The Pines apartment complex parking lot early Wednesday morning.
A maintenance man heard her screams and helped pull the man off of her and called police.
FOX 29 spoke with the daughter of a woman who is recovering at Cooper University Hospital after being savagely beaten.
The suspect is behind bars, but the family of the victim is still searching for answers about why her mother was targeted.
Holly Horton says the attack on her 52-year-old mother came out of nowhere.
"She was stabbed in both arms, the legs and chest he strangled her," Horton said.
She says her mom an Air Force Veteran had stopped her daughter's Lindenwold apartment at the Pines to feed her cats.
There were blood stains on the sidewalk where police say 24-year old Ted Bockarie walked up and started to stab and beat her.
"She said he didn't say anything to her. She said she'd give him car keys or whatever he wanted he didn't talk at all. He just went after her," Horton said.
Police say it was a maintenance man who heard the woman's screams and ran to help. He pulled the man off of her and called police. Bockarie, who lives in the complex, was arrested at the scene.
He is charged with attempted murder assault and other charges, but not before giving residents here a big scare.
"It's scary being a mom out walking children to school every day" Michelle Graham of Lindenwold, NJ said
The victim's daughter says her mom never even met the man who attacked her. She is now recovering from multiple stab wounds and head injuries.
Police tell FOX 29 they have no idea of a motive.
