Restaurant week 2014 is underway

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Restaurant week is under way!

Telepan Restaurant on the Upper West Side is preparing for a rush of people looking to get a great deal on fine food.

Head Chef and owner Bill Telepan says they're opening just for lunch and the cover amount will double or triple because of restaurant week.

“With weather like this people sort of tend to stay in their offices or home during that time and not go out to eat, but this really brings out the crowd, so this is a good diverse crowd” he said.

On Monday, he prepared two dishes that will be featured on Telepan's restaurant week lunch menu.

“Our most popular dishes we sell at lunch, one is a housemade mozzarella with hen of the wood mushrooms a little arugula and then a roasted trout fish I've been selling for many years, it's been very popular” he said.

Restaurant week features more than 100 fine dining restaurants--serving up meals at a relative bargain.

A three course lunch goes for $25 and dinner for $38.

People on the Upper West Side say they're ready to indulge.

One woman we spoke to on the street said she goes often with her gal pals. “It's a wonderful ladies lunch, so to speak, we enjoy it cause you may do a little more luxurious restaurants than you normally would” she said.

Bill Telepan says it gives people a chance to come and experience his place during the daytime so that hopefully that one day when they do have that special occasion they’ll think of coming back.
