Snow emergencies declared in southeast Mich.

Several metro Detroit communities have declared snow emergencies for the winter storm that made its way across the state Monday afternoon and evening.

Forecasts call for snow to begin around 4 p.m. and increase in intensity throughout the evening. Accumulations between 3 to 6 inches are expected.

A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect at 4 p.m. and runs through Tuesday at 4 a.m.

During a snow emergency, motorists are required to move cars from the road so that plows can get by. Violators run the risk of getting ticketed or towed.
