BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. -

The family of a Bartow County girl is calling for justice following her death.

Relatives held a special walk on Sunday to honor the life of one-year-old Journey Cowart who died last month.

After the walk, dozens of supporters released hundreds of purple balloons in Journey's memory.

The family also sold shirts, ribbons and car magnets for the Justice for Journey Foundation.

Dozens of supporters showed up to the walk.

"It just melted our hearts. It is tragic what happened and I know it happens a lot and it shouldn't. This is a small community and we're all pulling together for this family and showing our support in this hard time for them," said supporter Teresa Mulkey.

Authorities say Journey was abused for at least six months before she died. Her mother, Brandy Boyd, and her boyfriend, Austin Payne are being charged with felony murder.
