NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Love may be as old as time, but the ways people share love and expect to get it in return, is different today.

Daniel Jones, the Modern Love columnist for the New York Times, and author of a new book, 'Love Illuminated Exploring Life's Most Mystifying Subject (With the Help of 50,000 Strangers)' knows all the weird things people are doing for love.

Among the non-conventional things couples do to maintain passion in marriage: schedule sex, schedule date night and commit to hugging each other ten times a day for ten seconds each.

Beyond the unusual, Jones says there are several things to keep in mind to find love and to do while in love:

Destiny:
"I think it's good to believe in destiny once you're with the person. But in the beginning if you believe in destiny, it makes you overly focused on someone being perfect."

Soul mate:

"It's earned over time. You become someone's soul mate over time. You don't go out looking for a soul mate."

Looking for love:

"Don't try to pre-judge who you might try to fall in love with and don't try to fall in love with people by categories as online dating makes you do. Meet real people rather than online profiles," says Jones.

The future is here when it comes to vehicles. The auto industry has packed nearly 1,000 automobiles into the Jacob Javits Center on Manhattan's West Side for the 2014 NY Auto Show.   Among the 'must-sees' is a hydrogen-powered vehicle and a prototype with cameras that allow you to see the ground underneath as you drive over it.

“I was supposed to be dead before last Easter," said Valerie Harper about her diagnosis of cancer in the lining around her brain.  Harper's indomitable spirit and the support from fans of her character 'Rhoda' in the 1970s hit series 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show' has kept her going. "It’s a tasty headline," said Harper about the magazine where the inaccurate report was made.
