CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

While the word "snow" may be one that we're all sick of hearing these days, but "Snow Days" at Navy Pier might make you go looking for it.

Fifteen teams from around the world will compete to transform a 10 ft. block of icy snow into a masterpiece by Saturday for the Snow Days competition.

Participants start with a sketched concept, build a model or ridge system and sculpt free-hand to create their art. Although contestants began the process this week, it's always a race to the end. Exhibition begins at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Retired law enforcement officer Mike began sculpting in 1989. He's representing Chicago in the Snow Days contest. Mike said teams will be working to the very last second to perfect their pieces. From what Good Day Chicago observed on Friday, the results will be awe-inspiring.

Admission to view the snow sculptures at Gateway Park is free, and open through Sunday. Good luck to all the competitors, especially Mike!
