MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

It's a big weekend for college basketball in Memphis. ESPN's College GameDay is in town to see the No. 24 Tigers take on the Gonzaga Bulldogs Saturday night at FedExForum.

The festivities kicked off Thursday with a pep rally for a good cause. The Mid-South Food Bank was collecting donations as a part of their "Million Meal Challenge." Fans who visited the Kroger grocery store on Poplar Avenue and Highland even got to see the College GameDay bus.

ESPN's College GameDay will be broadcasting live Saturday morning from the FedExForum at 9 a.m, several hours before the 8 p.m. tip-off.

The last time the University of Memphis was a part of ESPN GameDay was in February of 2009 when the Tigers traveled to Spokane, Wash., to play Gonzaga. Memphis posted a 68-50 win over the Bulldogs at Spokane Arena on Feb. 7, 2009.

The Tigers also hosted ESPN GameDay versus Tennessee in 2008 and against Louisville in 2005, which was the season the network's college basketball road show debuted.

But having the national program in town is also helping to bring attention to the Mid-South Food Bank, which is raising awareness and promoting their goal to collect one million meals for the hungry before the college basketball season ends.

"It gives us a lot more exposure because it brings in the fact that there are actually national organizations and companies that really care," said David Stephens, Mid-South Food Bank Community Relations Director.

College GameDay airs Saturday, Feb. 8 at 9 a.m. live from the FedExForum in Memphis and is free and open to the public. Come out and show your support for the Tigers.

Doors to the FedExForum open at 6:30 a.m. and seating is on a first come, first served basis.
