MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Shelby County Commissioner Henri Brooks wants answers from Christ Community Health Services about a botched circumcision on a young boy in August 2013.

Commissioner Brooks has invited Christ Community Health to a meeting with County Commission Chairman James Harvey. She would like to question the top managers and executives of Christ Community about what happened that day.

She will get an audience with Chairman Harvey, but But it is doubtful that Christ Community Health will show up.

"After I went home and I discovered that my son's penis was not there, I immediately froze, like, oh my God," Maggie Rhodes recalled in November 2013.
Rhodes' horror of finding her then three-month-old son the victim of a botched circumcision has been heard by Commissioner Brooks.

"The mother contacted me," Brooks said. "I am her commissioner. She is one of my constituents."

According to the family, the boy, named Ashton was taken to Christ Community on Broad Avenue for the medical procedure in August 2013.

"The mother has called me several times," Brooks said. "She is understandably distraught about this. I do not have answers for her."

Commissioner Brooks has convinced a reluctant Commission Chairman Harvey to meet with her to discuss the mother's complaints.

"What happened here; number two, how did it happen," Brooks said. "I have been told, I am not sure. This is another reason for the meeting, that this particular facility is not credentialed to perform this kind of procedure."
Brooks might be able to bring this issue before the county committee on hospitals and health since she is a member.

Christ community Health was awarded a health care contract by the county.

"Information to pass onto our constituents, to pass onto them, that yes this facility can perform this procedure," Brooks said. "Yes, this facility has put something in place so this won't happen again, and yes the individuals who performed this procedure, this botched procedure, are no longer here."

Commissioner Brooks said she has invited Christ Community Health Services to attend the meeting with the commission chairman. A spokesman for Christ Community Health told FOX13 News he could not confirm if anyone from organization would attend.

If they did, federal law prevents them from discussing this case.
