Ruthless Attack On A Northeast Philadelphia Teen On Video

Posted: Updated:

Disturbing video surfaced Wednesday on Facebook of a ruthless attack on a middle school boy.  It shows two teens walk up to two other boys and out of nowhere they hit and punch one of them until he's on the ground where they start to kick him. The teen recording it can be heard laughing uncontrollably.

"It's a trophy. They're proud of it that's why they post it," said Breanna Taurino who saw it on Facebook before it was taken down.

"There's no words. It's just disgusting. People act like this all the time and that's the worst part that it's not surprising," she said.

Police say the victim and the teen recording it go to Wilson Middle but don't know each other. They say at least one of the attackers goes to Northeast High School.

People who heard about it are outraged.

"It's terrible. It's disrespectful. It's very demeaning," said one man.

Police found out about the video Wednesday when they got calls from people saying it was on Facebook. The attack actually happened the day before at Princeton and Large Street but the victim never filed a report.

"Probably because of fear. It seems we have a lot more incidents going on not reported in terms of bullying," said Lt. John Stanford with Philadelphia Police. Police say the victim is fortunate he wasn't badly hurt. They released the video to send a message that this type of violence won't be tolerated.

"These kids don't think about the things they're engaging in. You assault someone like this on an icy street and they slip and fall and hit their head. Then they die and now you're being arrested for murder," said Lt. Stanford.

Police have the teen that recorded the video and one of the attackers in custody. They expect to have the second suspect in custody soon.
