MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

As the Tennessee Legislature continues the early stages of this new session, Memphis leaders are working to reassure lawmakers that the city is not a sinking ship.

Of course the very public budget battles which got the attention of the State's comptroller, who ordered Memphis to get it's "fiscal house in order," the cuts of police and fire budgets, and the city's pension problems work against Memphis' image in the rest of the state.

But Memphis CAO George Little spent time in Nashville recently, talking to legislators and reassuring them that Memphis is on solid ground, conversations that were challenging for sure.
