Crime Stoppers offers reward after murder of Curtis Deshawn Reynolds

(WJBK) -

Curtis Deshawn Reynolds was a longtime supervisor for UPS and worked security on the side.

"I asked him not to go to his second job, and he said 'I won't be gone long,'" Catherine Reynolds, Curtis's mother, remembers about that day. It was the last conversation she would have with her son. He went to his security job downtown, came home but never made it inside.

"We heard the shots, and we ran downstairs we [saw] the guys running away," says Jay Reynolds, the victim's brother.

"I opened the door. My son went out before I did, but they shot back," says Catherine.

The two gunmen ran away. Deshawn's brother and mother ran to his side. The shooting happened in the driveway around 12:30 a.m. January 21, 2012.

"They said Shawn is breathing funny, but when I got to him he had taken his last breath. I could hear the person he was talking to on the phone screaming. It's very devastating for me," says Catherine. Deshawn was on the phone with his girlfriend.

Catherine has a message for the two men seen running from the scene of the crime: "You're the walking dead. You have no heart; no mind; no soul; you have nothing. You're just out there doing the same thing over again."

Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward to the caller who leads police to an arrest. If that information is received by midnight the day of the press conference (Jan. 28) an additional $1,000 will be rewarded.

Call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP (1-800-773-2587). You will remain anonymous.
