PHILADELPHIA -

A fire raced through several homes Monday night in the Kingsessing section of Southwest Philadelphia.

Firefighters responded to the 2-alarm blaze around 10:45 p.m. in the 5400 block of Belmar Terrace.

The fire engulfed three homes, forcing the people inside out into the cold.

Two of the three homes were destroyed.

Once the fire was out, firefighters had to wait for salt trucks to treat the slick surfaces frozen over from the water.

The Red Cross is working to find the people living there another place to stay.

FOX 29's Dawn Timmeney was live in Kingsessing with the latest Tuesday morning.
