KKK Leaves Anti-MLK Flyers In One Va. Neighborhood

Posted: Updated:

Residents of a Virginia neighborhood are surprised and disgusted to see what was waiting for them at the end of their driveways Sunday morning before MLK day.

Flyers were spread that spoke out against Doctor Martin Luther King Junior.

On the eve of Martin Luther King Junior day, the flyers were left by members of the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. The flyers bashed the civil rights leader.

"It's just sad and it's unsettling. I hope the young people realize this is hate, this is not love," said Kathy Thomas, a resident. "Very disrespectful to his memory."

The messages were found in plastic bags, at the end of driveways throughout the neighborhood. People believe that the plastic bags were put in place sometime during the night.

Neighbors were angered and disgusted by the flyers...

"This man stood up for equality for everyone, But I do understand that folks have their opinion. They say what they like to say, but don't force it on folks," remarked resident Tony Hobbs.

"Show your faces, let the neighbors who you are," said Thomas.

"Whatever they are trying to get from that, it won't happen, not in this community," said another neighbor.

Sam Green, a member of the Klan, says that the group meant nothing racist by the flyers and was not discriminating against Doctor King because he is black.
