DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

The National Civil Rights Museum in Downtown Memphis has delayed it's planned reopening by a month.

Originally slated for a grand reopening in March after undergoing a $27 million renovation, the NCRM will now open the first week of April.

Since it announced in 2010 the museum would undergo the multi-million dollar renovation, it has been only partially open to visitors over the last three years during the renovation.

Museum director Barbara Andrews said her staff needs the extra month to become familiar with the new technology and interactive exhibits.
