Roads reopen after gas leak in Decatur

Posted: Updated:
DECATUR, Ga. -

A gas leak caused major traffic delays in Decatur on Wednesday afternoon.

SKYFOX 5 was over the scene on DeKalb Industrial Way at Lawrenceville Highway around 4:20 p.m. A gas main was struck on accident by a construction worker, causing the break.

Traffic was backed up around that area as crews worked to seal the leak. The delays continued into the night as repairs continued. Roads were closed and nearby businesses were evacuated, but there were no reports of injuries.

Finally, the roads were reopened just after 10 p.m. and officials said the gas was shut off in three separate spots. Drivers should not anticipate any delays on Thursday, according to officials.
