Three University of Memphis football players who concluded their collegiate playing careers last month are committed to play in the 2014 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl presented by Panini next week.

Defensive back Lonnie Ballentine, defensive lineman Johnnie Farms and punter Tom Hornsey have committed to the game which will be played Saturday, Jan. 18 at StubHub Center on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills in Carson, Calif.

Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. Central and the game will be televised live on ESPN2. ESPNU will also air live broadcasts on Jan. 15 and Jan. 16.

Hornsey, who is a 2013 NCAA Consensus All-America selection, will face a challenging week ahead. In addition to practices associated with the game as well as receiving an in-depth introduction into the NFL Players Association and learning the business of football, Hornsey will travel cross country next week for the Jan. 16 All-Area Football Banquet in Augusta, Ga., where he will be presented with the Ray Guy Award, recognizing collegiate football's top punter. Following the awards event, he will return to California for the all-star game.

Hornsey was named the Ray Guy Award winner last month in Florida.

The NCAA announced this week its Consensus All-America team which compiles a team whose players were listed on the most first team All-American teams. To be selected, a player has to be named first team on at least two of the five selected All-American teams.

Of the five teams which make up the NCAA's consensus list, Hornsey was a first-team All-America selection by the American Football Coaches Association, Associated Press and Football Writers Association of America. He was a second-team selection on the Walter Camp Foundation team. The fifth team was selected by The Sporting News.

Hornsey ranked seventh nationally with a 45.2 punting average and the Tigers' 44.4 net punting average ranked fourth nationally.

Ballentine posted 176 career tackles including 58 as a senior in 2013. Farms posted 101 career tackles including 21 tackles for loss and six quarterback sacks.
