LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- The top Republican in the Arkansas House says the impeachment of Lt. Gov. Mark Darr is "inevitable" if Darr doesn't resign over ethics violations tied to his campaign and office spending.

Rep. Bruce Westerman of Hot Springs said Tuesday that he believes there are enough votes among Democrats and Republicans to impeach Darr for breaking state ethics laws 11 times since 2010.

Impeachment in the House requires 51 votes and would cause Darr's suspension from office. It would take a two-thirds vote in the Senate to remove Darr permanently.

Westerman says he would be among those voting for impeachment if a vote occurs.

Darr last week acknowledged breaking state campaign and ethics laws and agreed to a pay $11,000 in fines.
