NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - -

A mass of arctic air is expected to bring snow and subfreezing temperatures as it begins to move into Mid-South on Sunday.

The arctic air will hit the area around noon on Sunday and rain will quickly turn to snow. Areas west of the plateau are expected to get between 1 and 3 inches of snow while the upper Cumberland region and plateau will get between 2 and 6 inches of snow. Snow is also possible in areas of northwest and East Tennessee.

Along with the snow, temperatures are expected to plummet across the Mid-South into the single digits, with wind chills of below zero possible late Sunday night.

Forecasters warn travelers to be cautious as roadways could become snow-covered and slippery.
