MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

The number of states reporting widespread flu activity has jumped from 10 to 25 in last week.

In the Mid-South, Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas all have very high activity. Doctors say H1N1 is the most prevalent strain that will make you sick.

H1N1 is same strain that caused the 2009 Swine Flu pandemic.

With high numbers of hospitalizations already, doctors say the worst is yet to come.

"Typically the flu season doesn't peak until late January early February," said Dr. Ross Tobleman of Scott & White Memorial Hospital of Texas. "Every health care provider typically will have the flu shot, but there is some limited availability so call before you go."

Flu vaccines are recommended for everyone six months and older, especially pregnant women, the elderly, and children under the age of 5.
