CORDOVA, Tenn. (FOX13) -

UPDATE: A four-hour barricade situation on Amberly Way Drive in Cordova ended safely early Friday afternoon.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office said just after 11 a.m. SCSO Dispatch not only received calls on its 9-1-1 line but also on its non-emergency line.

The caller was making statements and requests that concerned the dispatchers as to the man's well being. When the man began calling the 9-1-1 lines, deputies were dispatched to the address on a welfare check.

When deputies arrived a man, identified as 63-year-old Clyde Mosby, opened the door and implied he had a weapon and locked the door. The deputies then set up a perimeter and contacted the SWAT Team as well as negotiators.

While on scene the Special Operation Units were able to convince Mosby to surrender without further incident.

After nearly four hours, the man surrendered.

SCSO said Mosby has been detained for emergency commitment. No one else was present at the residence during this incident. While clearing the residence, deputies located a pistol near the front door where the initial contact with the suspect was made.

Criminal charges are pending.

FOX13 News reporter Lauren Lee contributed to this report.
