CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The first couples to get married in Cook County got some special perks at the Daley Center on Thursday!

Ricca Rivera and Fernando Chaidez were married by Cook County Clerk David Orr, a judge waived the standard 24-hour wait period so they could be married immediately and they received their marriage license – all in the same day.

They shoveled the snow from around their car and drove from their North Park neighborhood to Orr's downtown office on Thursday.

Arriving at 6:15 a.m., they said they were surprised to be first in line. They got a marriage license when the office opened at 8:30 and Orr married them about an hour later.

A judge waived a 24-hour waiting period so Orr could marry them immediately. He's the only county clerk in Illinois with the ability to perform marriages.

The couple plans a February church wedding, reception, and honeymoon in Puerto Rico. Local businesses also gave gifts to the happy couple.

Good Day Chicago spoke with two lucky couples who took advantage of being the first to be married in 2014 on Thursday morning, and they couldn't be more in love.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
