MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) – -

Terry Brown is exhausted but knows she can't give up. Since Christmas Day, she's been knocking on every door, doing everything she can to find a new home for her and her daughter. "It's been rough, I've hit some road blocks, but I'm going to keep going to see if I can get something somewhere," said Brown.

Brown left her Avery Park Place apartment on Christmas Day and the complex has now been declared dangerous. It has no running water or electricity, and the rest of its residents were moved out by the city just days later.

She's now on a wait list at the Memphis Housing Authority, but is worried because of some city holiday office hours. She's currently staying in a motel for free, but knows she needs to find something permanent.

As of Monday, her best bet lies with The Metropolitan Inter -Faith Association, who the city contacted to try and place the entire complex."They are aggressively working to find housing for each of them; they are contacting them today, to find some sort of emergency housing, "said Councilwoman Wanda Halbert.

Meanwhile the complex that started it all remains shut down and police have stepped up their patrols around the building. Brown is keeping her fingers crossed and hoping her prayers of a stable home are answered just in time to start fresh in the New Year.
