MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) - Extra police officers will be patrolling Nassau County roads to spot and stop drunk drivers on New Year's Eve.
County Executive Edward Mangano says police will be targeting drunk drivers to stop senseless alcohol-related accidents during one of the busiest party days of the year.
He warned: "If you drive drunk at any point over New Year's Eve, you will be arrested."
The increased patrols are part of the county's "STOP DWI" initiative. It's funded by DWI fines.
Last New Year's Eve, 47 people were arrested for DWI in Nassau County.
