Showers and thundershowers will become more numerous across the Mid-South throughout the evening and into tomorrow morning. Heavy rain is likely across the region tomorrow with as much as 2-plus inches of total rainfall possible, and especially for the counties north of I-40.

A Flash Flood Watch will go into effect at midnight tonight for most Mid-South counties north of I-40. Temperatures will only drop into the low to mid-60s tonight, and then rise to near record levels tomorrow in the mid-70s. Winds will be predominantly out of the South at 15–25 mph with higher gusts at times.

There is the potential for severe weather in the Mid-South tomorrow with the possibility of strong thunderstorms with heavy downpours, lightning, and damaging winds. There is also a chance for tornadoes to develop with this system. All of the Mid-South has a slight risk of severe weather, and the greatest risk is from Tipton County, Tenn., down throughout all counties bordering the Mississippi River.

The most likely times for severe weather to occur will be from 9 a.m. until approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Weather conditions will improve by Sunday morning, and temperatures will drop noticeably. The high temperatures will struggle to get out of the lower 40s on Monday, and then climb to near seasonable levels by Christmas Day with a high of near 50 degrees. No significant precipitation is anticipated from Monday through Christmas Day.
