Two suspects were arrested Thursday by Memphis Police in connection to Wednesday's cold-blooded fatal shooting of a Lamar Avenue pawn shop owner.

Lamar Jewelry and Pawn shop owner, Virak Hean, 56, died after being shot during a robbery inside his store, police said. Mr. Hean was robbed in full view of security cameras, that captured one of the suspect's movements.

Homicide investigators charged 23-year-old Christopher Woodland and 30-year-old Charles Griffin in connection with Mr. Hean's murder. Griffin was charged with first degree murder in the perpetration of a robbery and Woodland was charged with accessory after the fact.

Woodland is accused of driving the getaway car. His bond was set at $250,000 and is due in Shelby County General Sessions Court Div. 9 on Friday, Dec. 27, at 8:30 a.m.

Griffin, who was video arraigned Monday morning, is still being held without bond. He is expected to make his next appearance in Division 9 of Shelby County General Sessions Court on Monday, Dec. 30 at 9 a.m.

Police say Griffin shot and killed Mr. Hean. Surveillance video showed a man shattering a glass case stealing jewelry and then getting away in a red four-door Pontiac.

This story has caused some business owners to go beyond security cameras.

"We take every precaution available to us and some things people don't even realize. There is panic buttons, there is a buzzer outside. There are things they see and things they do not see. We have cameras on the inside and cameras on the outside. If we feel the slightest bit uncomfortable we have surveillance watching, police watching us, undercover or visible where they can see it."
