GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (FOX13) -

This is the time of year schools all over the country put on Christmas shows, plays and pageants.

While all of them are special in their own way, the students from Madonna Learning Center in Germantown put on a very special Christmas show at the Germantown Performing Arts Center.

"It has always been for special needs children there was a man who had a dream that his son could have the same education as other children and in a loving and nurturing environment that understood his differences," said Jo Gilbert, executive director for Madonna Learning Center.

That was back in 1969 and since then thousands of children have learned about life and love and giving at Madonna. But it has been the Christmas plays that have taught the rest of us just how special these kids are.

"We had three shows at Madonna Learning Center and had over 400 people in attendance," Gilbert said. "We had to simulcast into the cafeteria and so this year the GPAC, Paul Chandler, opened the doors for us to have it here and we are so excited. The children are very very excited."

The excited Madonna children entertained to a packed GPAC house with their music and dance and love.

"You give them a mic and give a stage and move out of the way, cause they love to perform," Gilbert said.

So you want to feel the sprit of Christmas? Well, this is it. The children of Madonna Learning Center give back with all they have, saying thank you to all those who have touched their lives.

"If people just allow these special children to enter their hearts, they will be touched forever," Gilbert said.
