MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

UPDATE:

The man accused of being the partner in crime for a murder suspect will face a judge today.

Police say Christopher Woodland drove the getaway car after Charles Griffin shot and killed a pawn shop owner.

The shooting happened last week at Lamar Jewelry and Pawn in Memphis.

Surveillance video shows a man shattering a glass case, stuffing stolen jewelry into two red duffel bags and then getting away in a red car.

Griffin is expected in court sometime next week.

Memphis Police detectives are investigating an apparent homicide after a Lamar Jewelry and Pawn customer found a man deceased inside the Memphis business Wednesday morning.

"A customer tried to go through the store," said Memphis Police Maj. Dennis McNeil. "No answer to the door. Looked inside, see a person down, contact police."

Police have told FOX13 News they have not positively identified the body yet and are not sure if the deceased was an employee or owner of the store at the corner of Lamar Avenue and Airways Boulevard.

Nearly 10 hours after receiving the "man down call," police said they still don't know much.

Family members grieved after learning their loved one was found dead, and may not receive many answers soon.

Maj. McNeil said they do not have witnesses, so investigators are heavily relying on video surveillance from this store.

"Obviously it would help if we did have witnesses but we don't have any witnesses to anything," Maj. McNeil said, "At this point if there are video or images on the video that can help us to try to figure out what happened Homicide will look at that."

With little information to work from, police say they do not have any suspect description and detectives cannot determine a cause of death, only that it was a homicide.

"We don't know who we're looking for," said Maj. McNeil, "A person has received injuries. At this point that person has expired."

Maj. McNeil said while they received the "man down" call around 11:45 a.m., they do not know the time of the actual crime.

FOX13 News contacted police about any updates with their investigation, including suspect information and cause of death, and they said they do not have any new information at this time.
