LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Miss. (FOX13) -

Lafayette County Sheriff's deputies suspect foul play was involved in the death of a 25-year-old Ole Miss graduate student, whose body was found Wednesday morning after a welfare concern check.

According to the sheriff's department, upon arriving at 20 B on County Road 140 deputies found the body of Zacharias Herculese McClendon of Gulfport, Miss.

"The University family is shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Zach McClendon," said Thomas J. "Sparky" Reardon, Ole Miss assistant vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of students.

"We feel pain and loss any time one of our students is taken from us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends and we, as a University family, will do all that we can to support them."

The Lafayette County Sheriff is working in conjunction with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, the Oxford Police Department, and the public.

If you can assist law enforcement in Mr. McClendon's death you are urged to call the Lafayette County Sheriff at 1-662-234-8789 or the Lafayette County Crime Stoppers at 1-662-234-8477.
