Study: Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

Long-distance relationships are sometimes frowned upon, but new research shows that absence may really make the heart grow fonder.

According to a study in the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy, distance helps facilitate more intimacy, communication and satisfaction in relationships.

Researchers studied more than 700 people in long-distance relationships and compared them to 425 people in geographically close relationships to assess the quality of their unions.

The factor that better predicted a successful relationship was not the number of miles, but the certainty in the relationship's future, the study found.
