2-year-old boy dies in Hart County mobile home fire

HART COUNTY, Ga. -

State fire officials say a 2-year-old boy died in a mobile home fire in Hart County on Sunday morning.

Spokesman for Georgia's Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, Glen Allen, tells FOX 5 News that a fire broke out sometime after 7:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Rocky Ford Road. Crews worked quickly to knock down the fire to try to make entry to get out those inside.

FOX Carolina reports 2-year-old Damion Westley Reddick died in the blaze. Hart County Coroner Mike Adams says smoke inhalation is the likely cause, but they are waiting on the results of an autopsy Monday to make a final ruling.

Allen says the mother of the 2-year-old boy was flown to the Joseph M. Still Burn Centers in Augusta. A man and two other children also were injured in the fire.

Fire investigators are looking at a space heater as the possible cause of the fire. They say the house is a total loss.
