DA Says Police Legally Tased 14-Year-Old

Posted: Updated:
BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. -

The Bucks County District Attorney says police did nothing wrong when they used a taser on a 14-year old last month.

Dashcam video on November 12 from a Tulleytown Squad Car shows officers in the process of stopping the truck  where14-yearr-old Joey Williams and two others were in on route 13. Police say they had just shoplifted some items from the Wal-Mart in the Levitown Shopping Center.

Tulleytown Police did not strike or abuse the juvenile subject.

Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler announced today after its investigation, Tulleytown Police officers acted appropriately. This photo of Williams went viral last month after his mother posted it on Facebook accusing officers of using excessive force.

He fled while handcuffed behind his back. His injuries were caused by his fall as a result of him being tased.

Heckler wouldn't allow us to air any of the dashcam video of the 14-yearr-old though off camera we were allowed to view it. In it you can see Williams running from police, and minutes later escorted back by two officers, talking to them.

Heckler says the actual moment Williams was tased was not caught on camera.

He says the incident happened in front of several witnesses, who did not report seeing police beat Williams.

Williams' family is upset. They say the DA didn't take this case seriously from the beginning. They say the teen shouldn't have been tased at all.

Williams is still facing a juvenile shop lifting charge He is due in court Friday.
