Police Investigate Possible Abduction Caught On Video In Fairmount

Posted: Updated:

It was a scene caught on tape that investigators believe could be a possible abduction. Watch as this unidentified woman is dragged down the block and placed into a car, seconds later, the driver pulls away, leaving a mystery behind.

"Pulling someone into a car, kinda scary," said Kaitlyn Jefferson who works nearby.

"It's horrible; I don't know what to say it's scary. I'm scared now because like I said nothing usually goes on in this neighborhood," said Ciara Williams, who's lived here for six years.

It started on the 1900 block of Green Street in Fairmount just after four on Monday. Surveillance cameras were rolling as a woman was approached by a man on the sidewalk outside a local pharmacy. She ignored the man and started to walk away. He followed close behind, then grabbed her and hauled her down the block back to his car parked on the corner. A few seconds go by and he pulled away.

"I come out here to catch the bus around that time, so it's kind of scary," Williams told FOX 29.

The possible abduction sent chills through this upscale neighborhood just off Spring Garden Street. Several residents and people who work here told FOX 29 they are now worried for their own safety.

"Just make sure you know you're surroundings, look around," Jefferson cautioned. "Keep an eye out and see what's going on. You look over your shoulder every once and a while, yup absolutely."

"I'll be more aware, I'll probably be catching more cabs," Williams added.

Detectives say this could be a domestic situation between two people who know each other, but they haven't been able to identify or find the woman or the man.

They're also looking for the dark colored Chrysler used in the getaway. It has Pennsylvania tags with the letters JFM. Police need the public's help.

"It's dangerous sometimes, but I like the neighborhood," Jefferson said

"Absolutely out of character for this area," William's added.
