South New Jersey Smacked By Snow

Posted: Updated:

An estimated 8 inches of snow in the Camden County area had some daring drivers doing donuts in a parking lot, spinning their wheels.

But  other drivers were frustrated, spinning their wheels on the ice, trying to get to where they needed to go.

The wintry mess created a traffic nightmare on Laurel Road in Laurel Springs, New Jersey.  Fender benders and road closures added up to major delays.

"Since I  left home it's been  40 minutes for what should be
a 20 minute drive," said one driver.

People scraping their windshields and using snow blowers to clean driveways was a familiar sight all over the county.

Gene Donato took a break from the Eagles'  game to make sure he didn't get snowed in.

"I   had my son out here. And since I  had a coat on and the snow blower out
I figured I'd take a couple minutes and try and get head start on it."

Despite the deplorable driving conditions and all the dangers. For some there's  a bright side to the storm.  For the Horowitz family it's a  picture perfect start to the holiday season.

"Merry Christmas!" exclaimed Jeff Horowitz. He called today's snow an early start to a white Christmas.
