Florida officials are hoping to rescue a pod of pilot whales stranded in Everglades National Park. The 30 pilot whales first spotted Tuesday afternoon in Florida Bay, about 30 miles off the coast of Flamingo.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has launched a rescue operation, but officials say they won't know if they can save the whales until they reach them and assess the situation.
Some of the whales have already died.
