Police: Cartersville man attempts courthouse suicide

Posted: Updated:
BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. -

Bartow County officials say a Cartersville man walked into the county courthouse just after noon Tuesday, pulled out a knife and cut his own neck.

Authorities quickly surrounded Jamie Lamar Green, 41, and shot him with a taser gun, officials say. Green was then taken to a metro-area medical center for treatment.

Deputies say Green was appearing at the courthouse following a 2012 arrest for aggravated child molestation, child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

No one else was reported injured. Officials say Green has a serious neck wound.
