Students camp out in hopes of front row seats to Pac-12 Championship game

TEMPE, Ariz. -

It looked like a scene from Black Friday, but these campers were looking for deals.

The Arizona State University students slept outside the Wells Fargo Arena, hoping to score the best seats they can for Saturday's PAC-12 Championship game.  Whoever wins gets a trip to the Rose Bowl.

There was a chaotic scene when tickets for the big game went on sale after the Territorial Cup on Nov. 30.

Students tickets are general admission, so now they're waiting for wristbands to guarantee them priority seating in the stadium.

Although it's finals week, students aren't letting that stop their front row dreams.

They tell us they make time for studying and go to class in shifts in order to keep their spot in line.  This is commitment and dedication and true fandom.

"..cuz we all  want the front row.. we don't want to settle for the back of the student section where we are blocked.  We want front row.. in the action, pumping up the fans as they are walking by.. we want to be the first ones everyone sees as they walk in," said Kaytee Chincarini.

It's not just a collection of tents, it's a community.

"It is one of the biggest games in my college career and I think one of the biggest games in ASU's football lifetime, so it is a great thing to be a part of it," said Jesus Castillo.

Inside the tents, all the comforts of home.

"Inside our tent, we have air mattresses and schoolwork and chargers and extension cords, a bunch of blankets and heaters and everything you could possibly need," said Chincarini.

The temperature is about to dip.  Can they handle it?

"I mean I did this last week for the U of A game.. we are not exactly roughing it, we have power and stuff like that, so it is worth it.. we see the football team up here in the morning.. if they can put in the work, we can put in the work for them too," said Castillo.

The wristbands will be distributed on Saturday morning.
