Family Guy Major Character Death Shocks Fans

Posted: Updated:

Family Guy, the long running animated series about a dysfunctional family in the fictional town of Quahog, RI, has killed off one of it's most-beloved characters.

The episode happened last night, and was entitled "Life of Brian." Brian, the talking family dog, is arguably the most relatable of the dysfunctional family (besides the fact that he's a talking dog) because he has real-world middle-aged problems.

Brian was hit by a car in last night's episode and died because Stewie's time machine broke and he couldn't go back and save Brian.

FOX Television later released a farewell video to celebrate Brian's passing. The decision by show producers to end the dog's life has been criticized all over social media.

On YouTube, the top comment writes, "Most people mainly like the show for Brian and Stewie, honestly, even if they killed off Peter for whatever reason, I would still watch the show, but Brian or Stewie?.... No way."

On the Hollywood Reporter website, a viewer wrote, "Probably won't be permanent. Stewie will fix his time machine and go back to save Brian. Otherwise, MacFarlane just made the most lame-brained decision...EVER!"

To read more backlash, go on twitter with the hashtag #BringBackBrian.
