Hot snacks too hot to handle for some kids?

The Flamin' Hot Cheetos are hot, and for some people, a little too hot to handle. The ingredients can cause something called gastritis, a painful condition that often lands people in the hospital.

Dr. Robert Glatter, an emergency physician at Lenox Hill Hospital, explained that some of the spices in the chips can increase acicidity in the stomach, which can cause inflammation. The pain can be intense.

Emergency rooms across the country have seen an increase in visits by adults and children who have eaten too much spicy junk food, like the Flamin' Hot Cheetos, and have developed gastritis.

On YouTube, we found Flamin' Hot Cheetos challenges, where people, often teens or younger, try to down a bag within a couple minutes.

We reached out to Frito Lay, makers of the Flamin' Hot Cheetos for comment, but we haven't heard back.

Some parents we talked say they're careful about what they let their kids eat.
