PRESCOTT, Ariz. -

An armed man was shot and killed by a police officer after refusing to put down his weapons on Tuesday night.

Prescott police were called to the 4000 block of Hornet Drive for a reported suicidal person.

When the first officer arrived, police say a 44-year-old man was holding a knife in each hand.

The officer told the man to put them down, but he allegedly ignored him and charged at him.

At that point, the officer shot him.

Two other officers performed CPR until firefighters arrived.

The man was taken to a hospital where he later died; his name hasn't been released.

Per department policy, the officer will be put on administrative leave during the investigation.
