Surveillance Shows Robbery Suspect Brutally Beating Victim

Once inside, the suspect went straight to the cashier and flashed another large knife then cleaned the register of the cash. One day later, police believe they have the suspect in custody.

Charges are expecting to be filed on the suspect.

The Philadelphia Police Department has caught the female suspect who robbed Grace Grocery and Dollar Tree in Girard Estates. Through surveillance and tips, the suspect who severely beat one of her victims is now behind bars.

The first incident occurred On November 18, 2013, at 12:14 p.m., according to police. The suspect entered Grace Grocery located on the 2000 block of South 19th Street and pulled a large knife.

Surveillance shows the suspect then restraining the employee with duct tape and taking an undetermined amount of money, cigarettes and the employee's cell phone. She then fled the store and was last seen north on 19th Street, said police. During the robbery, the suspect violently beats the employee causing minor injuries.

The second incident occurred on November 19, 2013 at around 8:17 am, according to investigators. The suspect entered a Dollar Tree store located on the 2300 block of South 23rd Street. Once inside, the suspect approached an employee with a large knife and demanded money. After the employee opened the cash register and gave the suspect an undetermined amount of cash, the suspect fled the store and was last seen going south on 23rd Street, said police. Just prior to the robbery, the suspect was captured on surveillance video outside ten minutes before opening the store.

One day later, police believe they have the suspect in custody and charges are expected to be filed.
