ATLANTA -

What's the word of the year? Selfie!

The Oxford Dictionary says that's its 2013 word of the year.  In case you need a refresher, Oxford defines a selfie as:

(n.) a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website.

Basically, it's a smart phone self portrait.

Selfie isn't a new word.  It dates back to 2002, according to Reuters.  But Oxford editors say the use of the word selfie has gone up a staggering 17,000 percent 2012.
