DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

He is an international superstar, but Monday evening before an enthusiastic crowd at the FedExForum, Justin Timberlake will take center stage for his first concert appearance in his hometown in five years.

Music superstar JT is one of the savviest use's of the multi-media age. Where other child entertainers let their stars dim because they didn't know how to continue their careers, Timberlake's stature has only grown to mega-stardom with adulthood.

Which makes him not just sexy, but real cool.

Even at the tenderest ages, there are some people who appear to exude "star quality." For the former Justin Randall, it was a meteoric rise from a preteen competitor on Star Search" to a stint as a Disney Mousketeer to instant teenage heartthrob status as a member of the former beloved boy band 'N Sync.

Now as a bona fide international superstar, the Millington native returns for his first live show in Memphis in five years. Seizing upon the breathless anticipation of tTimberlake's appearance, promoting his current  "Suit and Tie" 20/20 Experience World Tour at the FedExForum Monday night, Memphis Mayor A C Wharton unabashedly proclaimed the day as a time to formally honor one of its favorite sons and best ambassadors.

"He is unapologetically, unreservedly, proudly, authentically, a soul true Memphian," Mayor Wharton said.

As a sampling of his rabid fans would attest to, who traveled from as far north as Wisconsin and far south as Louisiana for Monday's concert, Timberlake's musical pledge to bring "sexy back" is now a completed mission.

"I think he's great. Yeah, he's a triple-threat," said Nicky Sullivan, Timberlake fan. "He can do it all. He can dance. He can sing. He can act."

"What makes him so hot? I'm married. I can't say. This is my husband. You're going to get me in trouble," added Faith Pierce, Timberlake fan from Arkansas.

"And Elvis. Just as good as Elvis," added Kristen Glatt, Louisiana Timberlake fan.

Actually, besides talent and sex appeal, Timberlake, the modern day "King of Cool" and the legendary "King of Rock n' Roll," do share even more endearing qualities, such as staying humble to their roots and loyal to their fans no matter how colossal their celebrity.

"He truly is a hometown boy," said Lynn Bomar Harless, Timberlake's mother. "I was thinking about that the other day. No matter what city we're in when you walk into his dressing room before the show, he's got all his clothes laid out there. There's always a stack of Grizzlies gear and a stack of (Memphis) Tigers gear."

"Rest assured, at the end of that red carpet, it's just the same old door you walk through," Timberlake said in 2007. "And for me I've always kept the standard. I put my pants on the same way as everybody else."

Humble, right? Of course, considering he's got his own clothing line he can make his pants fit anyway he wants to.
