Randi, Mark Zuckerberg's Sister, Advocates Digital Sabbath

Posted: Updated:

The sister of Facebook creator Mark Zuckerburg is advocating unplugging from our technology.

The former Facebook Director of Marketing is advocating a "Digital Sabbath." Randi Zuckerburg says that she has also had difficulty balancing and reached a point when she believed her devices owned her.

"I had forgotten how to just unplug and enjoy the company of those around me. I had forgotten how to be present in the moment," she wrote.

Randi says that she believes in a digital-free day to make time for loved ones.

According to Randi, technology has brought us a new world, but there is still work to be done.

"When people build up expectations of their friends' actions offline or online - and those expectations aren't met - that's when disagreements, resentments, and hurt feelings start," she writes.

She urges people to really get out there and live their life.

"Work hard. Play hard. Post hard. Tweet hard. But, most importantly, live hard," she said.

Many of the comments on the article agreed with Randi. ET, from NYC, wrote, "For the last 20 years, my father never allowed the TV, and later the Internet and video games, to be used on Sunday. As a kid I absolutely dreaded Sunday but in hindsight it was good for us. I'm sure he'll be glad to know he was far ahead of the times.
