3 dead in shooting at home on Detroit's west side

Posted: Updated:

DETROIT (WJBK) -- Three people are dead following a shooting at a two-story, multi-family home on Detroit's west side.

FOX 2's Roop Raj reports two men, ages 35 and 32, and a 22-year-old woman were found lying on the living room floor with gunshot wounds to the back of the head.

Officers responded shortly after 1 a.m. Friday to the home on Philadelphia Street, near Linwood and Joy following a 911 call, Sgt. Mike Woody said.

Names weren't immediately released. Investigators were on the scene all morning and Woody said there was no immediate indication of what led to the shooting.

While on the scene, Woody informed a woman that the female victim was her daughter. The woman wailed in grief as her companion hugged her.

"Telling a mother that she just lost her daughter is a very difficult thing to do," said Woody. "This just wrecked several families. My heart goes out to each and everyone one of them."

Woody says detectives spent the early morning hours gathering forensic evidence and interviewing witnesses.

There are no suspects in custody. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

This comes two days after the fatal shooting of three men in a back gambling room of an east side barbershop during a gunfight that wounded six others. In that case, a convicted felon who was wearing body armor when police arrested him is in custody.
