GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Germantown Police Department wants the public to know that a man posing as a Germantown Police officer has been placing calls to Germantown residents claiming the resident received a red light enforcement ticket and has missed a court date. The caller claims that a warrant has been issued and that in order to have the warrant rescinded, the resident must purchase a pre-paid money card and provide the card number so that the ticket can be paid. The caller has threatened residents with arrest if they do not comply.

The Germantown Police Department does not contact subjects with warrants asking them to forward money via phone. Anyone receiving a similar call is asked to contact the Germantown Police Department at (901) 757-7338.
