California-based tech company Gigya opens Phoenix office

PHOENIX -

The City North Project near Desert Ridge has had its share of ups and downs.  Plenty of office space, but this is definitely good news.

Gigya will be moving in to the third floor and they'll start with 50 employees, but within a couple years, they will staff it up to 200.

That's the goal, anyway, but Gigya thinks it will happen.  It's a fast-growing software company that helps big companies connect with mobile and social users.  The company is only several years old, but has been growing fast.

"What we realized was Silicon Valley alone was not enough to get us to grow and invest enough.  We thought we would have to look elsewhere to maintain that level of growth," said Gigya CEO Patrick Salyer.

The Arizona Commerce Authority pitched expanding to the valley.  Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton and Gov. Jan Brewer helped as well and Gigya decided to expand to the valley of the sun.

"This is another example where lean regulations, an educated workforce and a government that removes barriers instead of creating them is attracting companies to give Arizona another look," said Brewer.

Gigya says most of the 50 new Phoenix jobs will be in sales, but they call it "high wage" sales to corporate customers.

Gigya is headquartered near San Francisco and also has offices in New York and Tel Aviv, Israel.
