NEWS RELEASE FROM OAKLAND COUNTY:

November 1, 2013 (Oakland County) - The Oakland County Sheriff's Office, as part of an ongoing and targeted effort to address quality of life issues for the residents of the Baldwin Rd. corridor in Pontiac, conducted an undercover prostitution sting which resulted in the arrest of twelve prostitutes.
The Sheriff's Pontiac substation has received numerous complaints of illegal activities and prostitution along the Baldwin Road corridor. As a result, Sheriff's detectives initiated surveillance and a sting operation. During the month of October, undercover detectives working out of the Sheriff's Pontiac Substation were solicited for sex in exchange for money at Baldwin Rd. and Huron St. As a result, twelve prostitutes were arrested and taken into custody, eight of whom pled guilty and were sentenced by Judge Thomas of the 50th District Court of Pontiac to 93 days in the Oakland County Jail. The remaining four were released on bonds pending court appearances.
Eight of the women are from Pontiac, ages 25, 29, 30, 32, 34, 41, 44, and 50; two of the women are from Waterford, ages 35 and 50; one is from Detroit, age 34; and one is from White Lake Twp., age 35.
"These sorts of illegal activities degrade a neighborhood and will not be tolerated in Pontiac or anywhere else in Oakland County," said Sheriff Bouchard. "Anyone having information about these or other types of crimes in Pontiac are encouraged to contact us. I thank citizens for making these specific complaints as active and involved citizens make for a safer community."
