MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

The new Healthcare Marketplace opened their website on Oct. 1.

The Memphis Health Center has experienced problems with the website since Oct. 1 as well. It's leaving nearly 500 Mid-Southerners seeking the center's help to apply for the new insurance with more questions.

"Of course we know it's a process," said Marilyn Burress, Director of Grants and Community Development at the Memphis Health Center, "We found out early on October first that there was a couple of problems with the system, but what we are doing we are encouraging our patients, we are encouraging the consumers that this is just a glitch in the system.

Until the healthcare website is repaired, the Memphis Health Center wrote down names and contact information for the 475 consumers that have called or visited the facility looking for application assistance.

"We have spoken with individually basically explaining the Affordable Care Act giving them the information and letting them know that they system is down," said Burress.

The center decided to move forward with application assistance on Monday by using paper applications.

"We have them to seal their own envelope. We are actually assisting them with postage through our grant funding" said Burress, "So all of their personal information is kept confidential, we don't keep any of their information on site."

With the center helping nearly 5,000 uninsured patients annually, the Memphis Health Center is eager for the Healthcare website to work again.

"We are staying very positive because we really, truly and honestly believe this is a good product and that it's going to help a lot of Americans who are uninsured," said Burress.
