The federal indictment reveals a fourth man was also targeted.

Patton was being relieved of duty at the Millington armory Oct. 24. Investigators say he went to his car, got a Glock 9mm handgun, returned to the armory, and started shooting.

According to court documents soldiers were able to take Patton out and hold him until Millington Police officers arrived.

The indictment charges Patton with four counts of attempted murder, four counts of assault and one count of using a firearm. He was informed of the charges in front of a federal judge.

Patton waived his right to a detention hearing and will stay in federal custody until his arraignment Nov. 13.

One of Patton's victims was in the courtroom and was ready to testify if the hearing went forward.
